Our commitment

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to creating safe, welcoming spaces where disabled and neurodivergent children, young people, adults and their families can take part with confidence. We take all concerns seriously and act on them promptly and appropriately.

Who this applies to

This statement applies to everyone involved in CelebrateAble's work, including staff, volunteers, contractors and partners, and to all our events and activities. It covers children and young people under 18, and adults at risk who may need additional support to keep themselves safe.

Our principles

• The welfare of children, young people and adults at risk is our paramount concern.
• Everyone has the right to be treated with respect and to be protected from harm, abuse and neglect.
• We listen to and take seriously the views, wishes and feelings of those we work with.
• We work openly and in partnership with families, carers and other organisations.
• All concerns and allegations are taken seriously and responded to appropriately.

Our responsibilities

To keep people safe, we are committed to:

• Ensuring appropriate recruitment checks, including DBS checks where required, for staff and volunteers in eligible roles.
• Providing safeguarding guidance and training appropriate to each person's role.
• Planning events with the safety and wellbeing of attendees in mind.
• Responding to concerns in line with local safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance.
• Keeping records of concerns securely and in line with our Privacy Policy.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person or adult at risk in connection with CelebrateAble, please tell us as soon as possible. You can contact our designated safeguarding lead, or email us at info@celebrateable.co.uk.

We will listen, take your concern seriously, and take appropriate action. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong to raise a concern.

In an emergency

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, or you believe a crime has been or may be committed, contact the emergency services on 999 straight away.

You can also contact your local authority safeguarding team, or organisations such as the NSPCC (0808 800 5000) for concerns about a child, at any time.

This statement will be reviewed regularly and updated as our organisation develops.
